The Reasons Why So Many People Fail At Clearing IAS

Clearing IAS Exam has always been the dream of million people. In a country like India, taking up a career in civil services proves to be a challenge for many while for some it becomes a nightmare. Lots of myths are associated with the exam which disheartens students and they unnecessarily flip out and doubt their abilities.

However, it is true that cracking civil services is quite hard, but definitely it is not impossible.

There are some reasons why many people fail at clearing IAS rather than succeeding. The most common reasons of failure lie within us only, it’s just we do not heed much into it.

FEAR IS THE ROOT OF EVERY PAIN:

The constant fear of failing would not let you to concentrate. This often happens when you try to test your capability, attempt few questions and the marks do not seem encouraging. As a consequence, you avoid appearing for the timed tests again. This is a common mistake that many students make. Remember that “Too many people are not living their dreams because are living their fears. So face your fears and live your dreams.”

EMOTIONAL IMBALANCE:

It is advised to keep your distance from friends and family and not be trapped in any type of emotional distraction.. Do not lose your track by saying yes to movies or parties for a day because even a single day can make a lot of difference. Focusing on personal matters during the time period can lead to emotional breakdown which would definitely affect your performance.

CHOOSING NOT THE RIGHT OPTIONAL SUBJECT:

Most UPSC Aspirants wish to score that 1 extra mark that would help them to clear their exam which makes choosing the right optional subject a major factor of IAS examination. The aspirants should try to be a perfectionist in whichever optional subject they select rather than being a part of the rat race. It is advised to choose a subject that excites you, encourages you to know more about it and should make you think out of the box.

ATTITUDE MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE:

Aspirants majorly suffer from failure due to their negative attitude, be it – Overconfidence, lack of confidence, fear, stress or unsound mind. Being a 9 pointer does not always mean the ball is in your court. It’s like a marathon, keep continuing until and unless you don’t achieve it. You need dedication, patience, perseverance along with positive attitude to clear this exam.

LACK OF REVISION:

Ignorance towards maintaining a good revision schedule can prove to have bad consequences. It is simply not possible to revise the material if it hasn’t been reduced to a manageable level by making notes, highlighting or whatever method that suits you. As a result the quality of the answers suffers without proper revision.

DEPENDENCY ON COACHING’S:

Many aspirants fail to understand that coaching institutions can provide a little extra push and that’s all. It’s you, who have to develop a holistic approach in understanding and implementing what you study. Coachings’ cannot inculcate that in you. Their guidance and feedback can only motivate you but the hardwork and dedication you put in will decide you destiny.
