What to expect on Republic Day 2017

“Republic Day 2017 will bring a range of traditional and cultural programs that will be  performed by the professionals from different states to focus the history and culture of the country.”

India will celebrate 68th Republic Day on Thursday this year. This day is one of the most important moments in the History of India that generates a sense of patriotism with those chills in the air.

The chief guest on Indian Republic Day 2017 will be Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. On this occasion, the two sides of Rajpath will be decorated with potted date palms. Coincidently, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from where the Crown Prince hails, happens to be one of the top producers of date palm across the world and it is their national fruit as well. Every year the country also holds an International Date Palm Festival. It is believed that the date palms would act as a warm welcome for the honourable dignitary.

The tableaux will be in keeping with tradition of the state. The parade will feature 21-children, who have won the national bravery award in open jeeps. Skill India and Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao are themes for 68th Republic Day tableaux.

In this year’s Republic day parade on Rajpath, 17 states and six ministries of the Central government are all set to perform and thrill the audience.17 states are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and West Bengal. In this regard, the most interesting fact about the Delhi tableau is that this year will be the comeback of Delhi tableau after 3 years.

The highlights of this year would be a fly past from indigenous LCA Tejas combat aircraft and the marching contingent of National Security Guard (NSG), popularly called black cat commandos. This surprising debut by NSG will include activities like singing the NSG anthem (written by Gulzaar – “Hain Na Hai Na Hum Hindustan, Hum Rang Rang Hain, Phir Bhi Sang Hain”).

Team of CBRN ( Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Explosives) will be on show as well. CBRN commandos are advanced terror fighters who use radiation protective suits in order to protect themselves and others from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear terror threats or attack. The team of deep divers, who are capable of killing people underwater, will take part in the celebration as well.

There will also be a debut of an NSG vehicle: Sherpa, a bullet proof armoured anti-hijacking vehicle. It is itself a commando and can also resist powerful explosions and go under water too. It is thus considered a significant addition to NSG.

India is a country having people of different cultures, societies, religions and languages who interplay with each other harmoniously. Independence to the India is the great pride as it was obtained over years after facing a variety of obstacles and hurdles.

Happy Republic Day 🙂
