Common Board Exam Mistakes To Be Strictly Avoided

Inspite of taking high-stakes exams all your life, board exam preparations can get on your nerves as ever. That’s natural! Failing the exam can have repercussions, and you don’t want to retake it. Many students might have misconceptions about preparing effectively and end up with inefficient strategies for the exam.

Out of all the exams, Board exams have a major impact in overall grades and play a significant role in shaping a student’s future. Often students are so worried while studying for their board exams that they tend to commit a lot of mistakes that ultimately affects their overall percentage.

Let us find out what are the common Board exam mistakes made by the students-

  1. Slipping through the Question Paper :

Students get the question paper right when the bell goes off and get baffled. One of the most common mistakes made by students is not utilizing the 15 minutes reading time properly. Have a brief look over the paper to decide the sequence in which questions are to be answered, and then start with the question which you think you can answer correctly. By the time you receive your answer sheets, it will give you a fair approach to proceed with the exam.

  2. Time Mismanagement :

Be it objective or subjective, every exam is all about time management. If you cannot manage time for those three hours, then you’d likely end up struggling with finishing the paper on time. Make sure you do not waste time on one question. Time is crucial, so carefully allot time to all questions according to their requirements.

  3. Presentation :

One mistake leads to another, you can see how time mismanagement can lead you to hustle in the exam and vary the way you present the answers. Tips are to always use a Gel pen – Blue and Black, a sharp pencil and ruler every time. If you make neat diagrams and label them properly, they can fetch you good marks.

  4. Noting down incorrect data :

Students copy down incorrect information/question/data from the question paper to their answer sheets. Observe and do not create a fuss to save a couple of marks in the exam.

  5. Leaving the exam-hall before time :

This is the biggest mistake a student makes. Do not just attempt all that you know and leave. Try to recall the rest of the questions and solve them until the time is over. Also, when you complete the exam before time, you can utilize that time to  improve your presentation or revise the answers.

Every exam needs to be taken care of but CBSE certainly needs an extra step. So, stay enlightened and heed into every tiny detail.

All the best.
